What's new

What we do for the right angel, lol.

The reprocessed one looks a bit better! Yay! Very grey though.
It is sweet that you will get your bum dirty for a fun lil shot! I only tend to do it on proper shoots - keep it up

Thanks, I did drop the saturation/vibrance down. Here is a redo.

The callibration may be waring thin on my laptop but now it appears pink! I think it's a little bit of a lost cause but if it's a shoot you really wanted to take seriously, you know in yourself what you done wrong because you've pointed all the errors out yourself so we can all forgive a candid shot of fun!

Yea, my first intentions of this thread was just to show what we all do to get the "angle". I know these weren't great photos due having a slow lens, dark condition, no proper flash, high ISO (6400, which the D7000 handle like a champ!) ect. But people started critiquing (I guess I posted in the wrong section) which I'm all for because I'm very willing to learn, so now I'm listening.

No. (to all of them)

I know the last two didn't but why No to the first one?
Why don't you tell me why you think it does work? Take a good unbiased look at it and see if you can point out any fundamental flaws....

Rule of third, check
focus, check
underexposed - yea I know, best I could do with the situation
White balance - looks like it could be tweak a little

Please add as I do want to learn.

I would say you are about a full stop to a stop and a half under. Do not be afraid to use your pop flash as a light fill, when shooting in raw you can tweak the colors to remove some of the harsh cast.

For 6400 ISO those are some pretty clean images. Did you do any NR to them?

This might just be a brilliant example of why the rule of thirds isn't enough for a good photo.

The light is yucky and gross. :)

ROT - If you really want to punch the ROT, get the intersection on the left eye (closest to us).
Focus - the focus is on her forehead and the unflattering light is highlighting skin blemishes that we wouldn't notice under normal circumstances. To get nice features, without exaggeration, you want to be further away and achieve the same effect by using a longer focal length.
Underexposed - This is about 2.25 stops underexposed
WB - More than a tweak. Even with temperature change, yellow & green desaturation, and curves adjustment the colour cannot be made to look reasonable. I cannot get the eyes white without degrading the rest of the image.

+1

The pop up flash can be put in manual mode. Then you can turn the power output down, so you don't nuke your subjects.

You can even use just enough flash so it's the dominant light, eliminating mixed lighting white balance issues.

Thanks, I'll try my pop flash for light fill next time stopped down. I think I have my NR set in the camera to normal.
