What would you recommend?

My family and I are going to be taking mission trips around the world.. We will be raising support all around the USA. We are wanting a camera to take with us to be able to snap clear, crisp shots and good videos. Looking for a nice camera. I do not know anything about them. Want to be able to take really good still shots, action shots, and wildlife, scenery photos etc.

Would like to have a good zoom and would prefer something not to bulky and not too heavy due to having to carry it around alot of places possibly. Would also like a good MP. Would prefer to pay no more than $500 is possible (maybe a little more)...

Any recommendations? I have never bought a camera, so I honestly dont know alot about them. But we are needing to get it by the end of this month. Any review links, youtube vid links would be great also. Or examples of photos taken with the camera you are recommending..

What kind of support will you have to do post production, ie sharpening, resizing and general editing?

How will you be getting the files back to your home church for distribution? Or rather how big a file will you be able to send? And how long will it take? Internet speeds are iffy in some parts of the world and some parts are censored and you'll need to have extra memory cards to get the photos out.

You need either a point and shoot or a bridge camera, I would suggest a bridge camera. Make sure to check on low light usage and a quality lens is a lot more important than a large MP count. Make sure to get extra memory cards and batteries and I'd get a smallish tripod.
