I like having good gear when I get serious into a hobby

I also picked up a part time job a few months ago, the sole purpose of which is to fund my multiple expensive hobbies.

That should be an easy one with the quality of the portraits you posted the other day! Is photography your full time gig? Not sure what the photography market is like in OR but I can't imagine you not being in demand.

Unfortunately I'm just not very business savvy, just very focused on making something that is beautiful to me. I'm optimistic that eventually my career as a photographer will take off, but in the meantime I'm stuck with retail work.

ditto. my GF went pro but the amount of will power and sacrifices made was just outstanding. I don't have that sort of determination and ability to give up creature comforts.
It's like once you hit a certain level, the cost of reaching the next level is just 100x the effort for like 2x the money.
