What is the differencenin the sigma 70-300 APO DG and the sigma 70-300 APO?

Someone has the APO (not DG) for sale for $120 shipped on another forum I am on and I wanted to know if it's worth it or if I really need whatever that DG is?

Sigma Lens Technology

"DG (DG for Digital)
These are large-aperture lenses with wide angles and short minimum focusing distances. With an abundance of peripheral illumination, they are ideal lenses for Digital SLR Cameras whilst retaining suitability for traditional 35mm SLRs."

Post links. I'd almost garuntee that the cheap one is actually a mis print and is a non-apo DG version.

So if I am going to use it on my dslr then it more or less needs to have the dg.

The cheaper one the guy said he bought it a couple years ago.

so will this lens still work for macro on my camera without the DG?

This is what my experience says about Sigma 70-300 APO DG lens. They arrived on 18th of March from Amazon. After taking some test images, I must say I am highly impressed. I bought it for my 30D for some backyard bird and wildlife shooting . To my untrained eyes, the images coming out of it look fine and plenty sharp enough. This cost me $200.I think you should buy DG,result is amazing.
