What's new

When did you "get it"?

I "got" the technical aspects after reading John Hedgecoe's book, "The Manual of Photography".

I'm still working on the composition end of it..... ;^D

When you look at my "Problems - Difficulties - Faults"-thread in the General Gallery, you will think I never did "get it" ever and at all  ---

That guy, an Englishman I think, has written a lot of books on photography. I have one of his, I think it is the same as the one you're talking about. Is it a big, thick one with filmstrip graphics on the edges of the covers?

I learned how to develop & print film with that book. There were some interesting and very specialized picture-taking techniques, and some very good illustrations in it.

Someone is way too mean to themselves! :-O

Yes, he is English and has produced many updated versions of this book. I believe the first one I got was from the '70's and subsequently bought his newest version. Excellent coverage of all aspects of photography. Well worth having in your reference library in my opinion.

Thank you all so much for your replys. It sounds like things will become more intuitve, but I need more patience, more practice and to go a little easier on myself.

Thanks all!

That what I said... Seems the young have to see an end to the journey. The journey itself should be enough.

I consider myself still young (not only due to some pleasant experience today ;) ) .. still I do not remember any time in my life where I thought it was anything else but a journey ... with no end

I knew when I started there would be alot to learn and it would take a long time.
The more I learn now the more I see how little I really know

good for you alex... I was referring to all the people who had a specific incedent that convinced them they got it.

the funny thing is, I know people who act as if they got it all ... but when you ask them, no one of them would dare to tell me looking straight into my eyes that he got it finally! :) ;)
