Where do i go from here?

Currently got a Lumix FZ38, known as a bridge camera i think. Looking to make the upgrade to a DSLR. Looking to spend anything around £500 for just the camera and a basic lens. Any suggestions?

If you don't see yourself needing any multi-thousand dollar lenses, consider the underdogs, like Pentax and Olympus. They have some really good features that are overlooked.

I have an older Pentax K100D that satisfies all of my SLR needs. Body-integral anti-shake (so I don't have to buy it again with every lens) 6 MP, metal lens mounts, top quality glass in all lenses. I don't think the new Pentax kit lenses still have the metal lens mounts.
