For those that don't have their own dark room, where do you get your film developed? Do you use a send off service or a local shop?

I use a changing bag in the kitchen
That was not the question :). But Gary is right, if you shoot b&w film the best way is to DIY. Primo; it is quite a fun, secundo: you will have full control. The only case I would go to lab with b&w would be in case that lab is running development in Panthermic 777 (or Harvey's Defender 777), but only for classic grain films like TX. To start it does not take much, things will get weird later, when you become advanced. For color lab is better, find one, accustom to it and use the only one.

Richard Photo Lab, the best lab in the world.

My kitchen. I don't have a darkroom. You don't need one for just developing b&w or color. Get a scanner and you're set.
