If you want a different brand, you might also have a look at this one:

PENTAX K-S2 - RICOH IMAGING UK LTD.

It may be too small for you, but the grip is decent size.

Looks like a nice setup but it's also a couple hundred more than I'd really like to spend. Shame too, I've always been kind of interested in giving Pentax a look. A buddy of mine has one and swears by it.

I can pick up a used 5100 dirt cheap, or a used d5200 within my budget. I could also go with a used Canon 60d with the 18-55 lens for around that same price range. Pentax sadly only makes the one model with a swivel LCD that I've see-n so far, so had to scratch them off the list. I could also look at a Sony A65 and 18-55mm in about that same price range.

Strangely enough, they do that like once a year at the Henry Doorly.. lol.. but no, I do actually hit at least a couple of car shows a year. One they hold every year on mainstreet of my home town.

Thanks Todd, it is at a difficult time of day to get good shots, 10 AM to 2 PM, so I try to get as many as I can early. Unfortunately a lot of the high priced stuff was up on a hill with dappled sunlight so ...

Yup.. always my consternation with car shows too - they generally don't start till mid morning and even then a lot of guys don't show up till late morning, and then they close down usually around 5 or 6 at the latest. So your fighting a lot of really harsh, direct sunlight.

Well that and the idgits who don't seem to understand you really don't want a picture of them gawking, your mostly just there to get pictures of the car. Lol
