Which camera....

What SLR camera under $1000 would be best for concert and sporting events? I am having trouble deciding on what to get.

You need a camera that deals well with high ISO and a lens that opens wide. For less than $1000 you are going to need an entry level DSLR. You could go midrange, but i think that you would be better off buying a cheaper one and buying a good lens.

I don't know which one to recommand but i can tell you not to get the K10D or GX-10 (my camera). It is not good at high ISOs.

the D80 is under a 1000 now. Not saying its the best choice, but it sure is a good camera, I am lovin mine!!! I bought it about 2-3 weeks ago.

I think that the D80 is the best deal of the moment as well!
