Get rid of those nasty vignettes.

They feel kind of eerie with that vignetting around the subject, its almost like your presenting a darker atmosphere but yet the dress and the subject don't play along.

#2. You want to show off the color of the dress. I agree with ditching the vignette, and consider warming the photo up. It feels very cold.

I agree with Brenda. You definately want to show off the dress' color. I mean isn't it kinda the purpose of the pic in the first place? To show off the subject in her prom dress. I agree with everyone else on the vignette as well. And the pose of the subject seems kind of awkward.

The markings on the timbers gives the effect of Devil Horns above her head.

You obviously turn your camera CW for portrait orientation. The shadows from the pop up flash are the tell.

The right arm is a mystery for it's being there, where it is. Next time lose it completely or make it more prominant.

You could easily lose about 1/3 of the head room on the shot.

The left arm position is nice, I would just suggest that next time to have her close the spacing of her fingers.

Another 10-15° turn wouldn't hurt either.

The second but your reds are starting to get blown out. You can see more detail in the dress in the first one. Turn the saturation down a tad in the reds.

the vignetting is horrible, and the wooden cabin or whatever is behind her doesn't make for a nice prom picture background..
neither for me.

Get rid of the vignette (or at least tone it down). Crop it a bit tighter, and leave it in colors (increasing the saturation would hurt at all.) Lastly, it usually helps to have the model take a step or two away from the background to get some separation, so it isn't so flat.

And let's try to get the C&C positive, guys. Not everyone can be "masters" such as yourselves.

Good luck!

this forum can be harsh sometimes, but thats how it helps up if people wouldn't be honest then the others wouldn't really know where to improve from im just saying sometimes be honest is the best way to go. BTW yea lose the vintage took and that background doesn't really go with a prom theme like sbuxo said >> other then that keep on shooting:)
