OK - so you may have seen from previous post but I am about to go on a 3 week vacation to Australia. I am wanting an UWA to bring with me. I plan on bringing the lenses below and leaving my 18-55 at home so I am hoping to find an UWA that will also cover part of that 18-55 lens. My question is of the lenses below - which would you suggest I rent? I have a d5000 so I only picked lenses that had the motor in them.

Lenses I'm Bringing:
35mm f1.8
50mm f1.8
55-200mm

Rental Options:
Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 w/ HSM
Nikon 10-24mm f3.5-4.5
Nikon 12-24 f4
Nikon 14-24 f2.8

Wouldnt that be pretty expensive to rent for that long? I assume it is going to be long. Just buy it.

Actually not really - the Nikon 10-24 is $799.99 at BHPhoto - renting for that period with shipping both ways is only $153 - BIG difference....

Or...buy a used one (say around $500) and then sell it when you get home (for $505). :er:

I say take the 18-55 and just stitch if you want a wider scene. I don't see a flash in your list?? I would rather spend that $150 in rental money towards buying a SB-600 or better! If you have one. Then just save the money! Do you have a good c-pol? That is something that you will want! Take the 18-55 :sexywink:

I would check out the Tokina 12-24 or the 11-16. They have a motor in them and are great lenses.

The 11-16 is screwdriver AF.

And have to be specific about the Tokina 12-24 f/4 DX as the older model is screwdriver as well. The DX II model has the AF motor. And it's $500 new at the moment. :p
