;) I am planning to purchase a new DSLR and i have no idea which i should consider to buy, i have few options though and I'm confused!
My options are Canon EOS 500D, 550D or 60D?
and Nikon D5000, D7000.

Can anyone give a detailed info of advantages and disadvantages between those models and which is better between Canon and Nikon, I know generally they're both good.

Thanks guys for any help!

Buying camera equipment is a expensive long term investment. You should do the proper research before making a big purchase like this and invest your money wisely.

The Nikon D7000 is about the best performing crop sensor DSLR out there for the money right now.

I don't know enough about Canon to recommend one over the other, but in that list the 60D seems to be the one most asked about lately.

For me, Canon vs Nikon is a personal preference. I went with, and enjoy the Nikon line and have had many different bodies over the years, liked them all. Right off the bat Canon just didn't feel right to me, it may be the opposite for you.

D7000 packs a lot of nice features, such as:
Incredible high ISO performance (native 100-6400, up to eq. 25,600 ISO)
Dual SD card slots (configurable for; backup, overflow, raw to one/jpg to the other)
6fps
Weather sealed
Factory weather sealed battery grip option
Partial magnesium alloy body (grip is all magnesium alloy)
Incredible 39 point autofocus system
Meters older lenses
In camera focus motor so it can autofocus older and new style lenses
In camera lens calibration to correct faulty lens focussing (small adjustments)
Incredible metering
Top LCD
Advanced camera that also includes Auto and Scene modes (handy for beginners)
Commander mode for built in wireless off camera flash with compatible flash units (SB600, 700, 800, 900 and Nissin Di866)

Nikon is generally going to have a faster burst speed and lower mp while canon will have higher mega pixel and slower burst but this is just in general. for example

Nikon D3 has 12.1 mp but shoots 9fps raw FX, 11fps raw DX with full sensor
Canon 1D has 16.1 mp but shoots 10fps raw and jpg however it is cropped sensor

but like the Nikon D700 is full sensor and shoots up to 8fps the Canon 5D only shoots 3.9 fps but has larger mp.

What do you want to use your camera for and i can help you decide...

hey man, tbh i have no idea about what to consider with regards to specifications of DSLR. Meant the most important ones to consider. What is the purpose of sensors? I am such a noob and a beginner. Megapixels is not that important i guess unless you're going to be needing really big prints.
As you've mentioned above the D7000 is indeed a good choice maximum burst frame rate of 6fps while Canon's 60D has 5.3fps, 550d has 3.7fps. 500d has 3.4fps.
The focus areas for d7000 is 39 point auto focus; 60D has only 9 cross-type AF points. What is the purpose and importance of the focus areas anyway?

How much is the current price of D7000 in the United States now? I guess it's cheaper there than here in Dubai.

What is the purpose of a sensor? Actually I just want to use my camera for personal uses and like just taking random pictures but it should be good at least.

That's why I am doing this stuff to find out more though I'm doing research online about every reviews of my prospective models I'm interested in.

please stop typing in huge letters...

anyway looks like your decision comes down to Nikon D7000 or Canon 60D both good cameras...

lol what's wrong with typing in huge letters,
hmm.. you really doesn't have anything to say are you? lol
I'm also considering 550D.
I'm not using my camera for professional purposes, it's for my own pleasures only of taking random pictures of any kind. But it should be really good of course.

You obviously do not have any general knowledge about photography... Asking a question like :

What is the purpose and importance of the focus areas anyway?

Tell a lot about your competence in this domain. To answer your question, the focus area is important because depending on the apperture that you select, the depth of field that you will obtain will vary. The more open your apperture will be, the shallowest your depth of field will be. You will often see theses shallow depth of fields on portraits or macro photography because it amplify the focus on the main subject while blurring the background and foreground. In theses situations, the focus area is very important because you want to be sure that the camera has focused on the right subject.

You cannot compare a nikon d7000 to a canon 500d and expect to be treated seriously. There is a lot of differences between thoses 2 cameras, one being its price. The d7000 cost around 1000$ more than the 500d and is not even a competitor to the 500d.

You should seriously consider reading some tutorials on basic photography, and thoses numbers you see on camera specifcations will begin to makes sense to you. Otherwhise you will purchase a camera and use it as a point and shoot, missing 95% of it features. If you dont care about photography technics and simply want nice pictures, purchase any of theses camera you pointed and they will give you really nice results.

wow! isn't it obvious that I'm seeking some help here lmao
i know a lil about the specs of cameras but unlike of those enthusiasts, I do my research online too thanks.

my budget would be 1000$ for the body. i understand that in the United States it's cheaper. I'm from Dubai.

It's also obvious you know or care little about netiquette.

It is poor form to bold your text.
It is poor form to use a larger than standard text size.
It is poor form to forego the appropriate capital letters.

All the above creates a poor first impression, and a poor first impression fosters little inclination for other forum members to help you. :er:

This is really starting to look and sound so gayyyyyyy
Don't tell me about netiquette because I know everything about it and certainly I know what I'm doing. I'll do what I want.
Why don't you just tell the moderator or forum administrator to remove the option of text styling etc
Now, If you don't have something to say anything good about the topic I posted then better not comment, capice?!
This also applies to other forum members who can read this. Thanks
