White-faced Ibis - Breeding Plumage

JacaRanda · Apr 27, 2014

Prior to last week, I had not seen or gotten any shots of this bird in it's beautiful breeding plumage. Now I have gotten lucky in the last couple of weeks. C&C welcome.

Ibises are my nemesis, I have yet to get a good shot, these look great!

I had never even heard of these let alone seen one. Excellent shots of beautiful birds.

#2 and #4 for me. Great shots.

Man, those feathers are something else.

Why white faced? Why not brown or red faced? Jacaranda is now #2 on my envy list, he's making some serious use out of the Tammy. I can't really pick a fav all of them are so great.

Gulp !! You been out with the spray paint again Jaca

I'm in awe of the colouring and the sheen, nice light direction to get those colours bouncing. What an incredible bird and shots. Excellent work in the flight shot and some really fine details in the others, those are pretty darn sharp !!

All the best Jaca ..... nice lens huh, having a blast I see.

If I tell you how super these shots are, may I borrow that lens for a few years? :sexywink:

Thanks for the comments guys. It really is crazy stuff. I have lived in this area for most of my life - the early 70's.

I had no idea that any of this was happening around me until the last couple of years.

Yes, we do pay more attention to nature once we try to capture its beauty. At least that has been my experience, I no longer miss out on those tiny details when looking at something which I did earlier.
