I was walking back to my car after taking some pictures at the Grist Mill, when I spotted a white Rhododendron, so I thought I take a few pictures of it's miniature blooms. As I started to compose my 1st picture, I noticed a Bee pollinating the flowers. I didn't have time to switch extension tubes, so I went with what I had on my D70S.

As I processed these pictures I thought that the Bee didn't look very sharp, yet the flowers were. As I looked closer, discovered that the wings look sharp, so I concluded that I was having issues with the fuzz on the Bee body.

Hey Joel, I think the light was working against you also on the bee, he is really getting lost in the shadow. It does look like focus hit his wings so perhaps DOF and shutter speed also played a part. I really like the crispness on the second shot !

Judi, Thanks for your in put. The light was sure bright, and it was approaching the noon hour. Gave it my best try as I rarely get the opportunity to photograph anything that's alive and able to move on its own.
