Why members leave TPF

I actually didn't mean you. You posted before I hit submit on mine. Sorry. :)

Actually.. I knew who you directed towards... NO problem here... :-)

"Oh no.." was directed at the same exchange.. hehehe  (limitation of this form of communication)

haha, k. :)

LOLz

Put about 40,000 people with various cultures, upbringings, tendencies, opinions, etc. into one room and see how long it takes until a fight breaks out, someone pops uncle Lou in the face, and some percentage of people depart because of it.

Maybe I'm Uncle Lou, not sure....but regardless, I'd say that you're about 99.9% correct in your assesment.

J.

I intentionally omitted which one was uncle lou. It's kinda irrelevant, really. (I say that with no mal intent, btw)

btw... Glad to see you are still around Manaheim... at least in lurker mode.

Thanks. You mean that? You know you picked on my "The Pact" in the other thread.

lol @ forum drama. It's words on the screen. It's like shaking your fist at the screen at an airport when a flight is late. Either disregard posts you don't like, or use the ignore feature to block an unliked member's posts.

I have no idea whatsoever what you mean. ;)

this is a community... An open community.. there are no restrictions to membership... As such, you can't take this place too seriously. There are way too many people taking "stuff" too seriously. The whole "The Pact" thread is a prime example of this.

This is a non sequitur. In any community there should be room for people who take things at however level of seriousness they want. And the rest should respect their feelings.

The kind of thread-jacking demonstrated above is similar to a 5 year old not being interested in a conversation and interrupting it by running around in the room yelling.

If this were a real community, then the acting 5 year olds would be sent off to play somewhere else where they have the opportunity to be as funny as they can to their own cache of admirers. But they wouldn't be given carte blanche to interrupt others' conversations just because they don't think it is important and they need attention.

Its ok if you classify my response as illogical and disconnected... that's ok. In the end, I don't agree. no amount of latin is going to change that (I think its this type of response that sets people here off).

In a real community, there is no requirement or law requiring people to respect your feelings nor send their misbehaving 5 year old away to a corner. Its all about how you react to them... (Grow thicker skin) What most people in a community have is respect and consideration for others. In this anonymous form of community, it just won't happen no matter how much posturing is done.

In a club or exclusive forum... yes... its possible... TPF is neither.

This from a guy that got mad at people who felt that certain pictures he posted of kids were borderline in-appropriate. Pictures that were making us uncomfortable having them displayed on our screens.

WTF? When did Twinky leave? and why? (where did they go? haha)

point made

Point missed, actually.
Most people leave Boards because some posters take themselves way too seriously.

As a matter of fact it was I who had the Photographic Discussion forum created. I eventually stopped having anything to do with it when it became obvious that too many people were only interested in boosting their ego instead of exercising their intelligence.
I see it in this thread with people pointing the finger and finding fault with others and not looking at themselves first. And I make this statement advisedly because I know exactly who in this thread has chased away the recently departed, and there is more than one of them.
But I know it will fall on deaf ears so I now give up the fight and take my leave of this place too knowing that almost all the people who will miss me have left already.

Yes, you don't have to actually respect people you just have to behave like it. And that's where the mods come in. And that's why I said that the general level of disrespect is the mods' responsibility.

Wrong guy. That was, I think, Flatline.

I take this sly insinuation of grievous faults as pointing at me.

I see that Hertz has made the decision just how serious everything should be - for everyone - and has decided that if anyone asks him to respect the rights of others to be more serious and to have a discussion without interruption, well that is an intolerable affront.

(If I had asked anything else other than he and his fellow joy-makers stop hijacking thread perhaps some one of them could point that out.

Sounds like you would be a perfect fit with mannaheim and company. Have fun!

You know, seriously, this place is just dripping with hostility.

You people all barbing each other, skieur backhand-barbing me and a group of people for seemingly no reason, etc.

I've been a little on the bored side the past few days so I came back here to lurk about for a bit and see what's up and I see no less than 3-4 of these absolute barb-fests... and ANYONE wonders why anyone might leave?

Unbelievable.

First of all, if you are going to throw around latin terms, to pose, somewhat as a "psuedo intellectual" use the term properly. You cannot just insert latin, into the english language framework, and expect anyone to take you seriously. You, my friend are a joke.
If, you are, as other's pretend they are "intellectual's" then you should have replied "non sequiter". Not "this is a non...." It's like saying you are not a not.

If, as you and others, want to pose as pseudo intellectuals, then learn the language, don't use latin to try to impose on Usait, that you have reached some sort of intellecutal nirvana. You are just making a fool out of yourself, which I'd already assumed anyway.

If you would like the whole paragraph, I, as a lesser evolved life form, as two of you have asserted, I can actually translate the whole paragraph into latin, used properly.

I would guess that, other than mod's, that asshat's such as yourself, feeling less than whatever goals you have set in your lives, try to interpret "art" as an intellectual entitiy in itself, therefore thinking that you have reached something more than your pathetic selves.

Having said that, I really don't care, about you, your camera, your family, or anything else about your background.

I've only been here a short time myself. And am discovering what a bunch of phoney people that a few of you are. I'm thinking about leaving the site myself. No big loss, you say? Very true, I can answer that one myself.

I will miss some of the good "friends" or should I say cyber "friends" that I've made, but if you really think that "the good ol' days" and mods are the answer to your problems, well I see it quite differently.

Go back to your nowhere lives, sit around and PM yourselves, that how you believe that other's are lower on the Darwin scale of life forms, and die the sorry assed pathetic little lives that you live.

Love,

J.
