What's new

Why oh why can't I get tack sharp shots??? I need help!!!

Hard to beat Tim's advice. I started to write something similar, but not with the rigor that Tim puts into his posts, so suffice it to say "^^^What he said!" :D

And Lew.... you know, for a talentless hack you do pretty good travelogues and street shots. When do we get the next batch?

Just to keep myself entertained, I'm going to post a giant wall of text and keep posting until the OP comes back and puts up some examples.

*chuckle*

Where is that This Thread is Worthless Without Pictures emojii-or-whatever thingamabob located??? In fairness, it's pretty common for a first-time poster to come on, post a question in the AM, then have to like, work all day, then run errands, and then drive home thru traffic, and...heck, it's like 5:45 here on the left coast, so, in fairness, the OP might not even have been home yet...

But I sure do wanna see at least a pic or two or three to check some EXIF data and stuff.

The question was posted in "beyond the basics" so I would assume that the solution would go beyond basic technique.

Every time someone tells me how sharp my photos are, I assume that it isn't a very interesting photograph. If it were, they would have more to say. ~Author Unknown

Well my assumption was when I saw they mentioned that they shot aperture priority mode was the most likely culprit would be shutter speed. For a lot if people just getting out of auto is considered "beyond basic".

But hey, I could very well be wrong too. Who knows.

Getting a sharp image when you want to and having a modicum of technical skills is basic. Being able to compose competently is arguably still basic.

There's an app for that!!! I know...like rent money and food money and gas money and braces money and...

The OP hasn't signed in since posting this
So hopefully they are just off making some Cherry Cheesecake for all of us and gonna dish it out upon their rearrival soon ...

Why don't you post an example of a photo you wanted sharp and you feel isn't? There could a million reasons why a picture isn't a sharp as you want it to be, more less one they could be a few combined.

Also, yes. Sharpness is overrated but so are all of the other aspects the digital age has brought people to be so keenly aware of. Distortion, Sharpness, Bokeh, all these things are besides the point really. A good picture is a good picture. Anyway i'm getting off track here, please post a picture so we can have some reference!

I love it when someone makes one post and ****s off
