Wide Angle lens for landscapes?

I second the tokina 11-16, it's fantastic. My second choice is a 24-70 f/2.8 L if you can afford it. (I can't but I've borrowed it several times from a friend).

Sorry to thread jack but is a wide angle lens better to do car photoshoot or a high power zoom? I am new to this camera world. Thanks.
