Wide Angle or 24-70mm range on a crop body?

^ looks like it is only made for DX and others must be using it FX just for kicks or don't know better.

Nikon FX cameras sense when a DX lens is attached, and crop down to DX mode, which just uses a DX sized portion of the sensor. It means that the photos are a lower megapixel count though.

O ok, good to know. So by using a DX lens on an FX frame you are kind of crippling the FX body into a DX body?

You will actually be taking your 12MP camera (D700 in my case) and turning out an image that's only ~5MP. A bit different than you stated Tbini87.

BTW, those photo were taken with the Nikkor 14-24mm @ 16mm. I was just giving Geaux some grief about the f/8-f/11 comment.

^ Thanks for the clarification.

I have a D90 and the Tokina 11-16. Love the lens.

See sample shot taken with it here: What draws attention in a glamour photograph? | Cultured Woman, LLC

I also have the 18-200 Nikon VR. And, when I go wide, I go very wide. So, the ranges are fine for me.

The DOF (depth of field on these things is enormous) the Tokina is F2.8 thru the zoom range, in case u do care to throw something a bit out of focus.

While the Sigma goes a bit wider (and I love wide). If you get the Sigma, love to know whatcha think of the pics. Can't say anything but nice things bout my Tokina.

Cept... sometimes I pine for a wider rectiliner lens still...
