Will my flash work with my new camera?

I am about to buy a Canon 400D/XTi. I have an old Speedlite 199A and would really like to hold off on buying a new flash for a while if possible. Will the flash I have work with my new camera?

If the flash has the right connections it might work. I would contact the company first to ask about compatability. WARNING: If you look around the internet there is a bunch of talk about how old flashes use more power in the trigger and over time this can fry your hot shoe on your camera. contact the company that makes your flash.

It won't work. Digital SLRs from canon require Canon's E-TTL metering which is compatible with the EX line of flashes.
