Will this work with Nikon D60?

It will, just won't autofocus. "D" lenses will meter but won't autofocus, ou need AF-S lenses to auto focus on the D60.

Thanks!

Am I going to find and AF-S 50 mm F1.8 lens for around the same price as a non auto focusing. I googled the af-S series of that lens but it was very limited to what I found.

Nikon only makes 1 AF-S 50mm, the 50mm f/1.4G. Totally worth the extra $350 if not for the sharpness and bokeh, but handling.

Lens compatibility for your D60 is shown on page 146 of your D60 users manual.

No, the other 2 options are the f/1.4 50mm or the f/1.8 35mm....the 35mm is about $80 more. The f/1.4 is about $300 more. Its all a question of budget... and asking yourself, "what do I need this lens for?".

If you are planning on shooting indoor "group" photography, either of the 50mm's will be too narrow to get a whole room in a shot.

If you are going to be doing portraits, then the 50mm w/o autofocus will suit you just fine. When shooting with that wide of an aperture, you almost want to manual focus anyway.

If you are going to be shooting sports with it, the 50mm w/o auto focus will be almost useless as there is no way you'll be able to focus on a moving subject at the wider apertures.

Boom, This is exactly what i wanted ot hear

Uh, for the record... I find it WAY easier to use autofocus when shooting wide open. Maybe that's just a personal preference... Maybe it's because I use AI Servo and Back button focus. I don't know.

Is it $300 easier?

Yeah, I'd say so. But then again, I use Canon, so I don't have to worry about autofocus. It just works. :lmao:

I always find autofocus works better with my camera setup regardless the aperture size. (except in low light environment and no focus assist beam)

Dao explain please?
