Window into Darkness

I took this last weekend along with my door photo. I played with different processing on and off all week and ended up with this. Thoughts? Keep or Trash?

This works... The frames give an illusion that it's receding back into the darkness, same feel as my Staircase shot. Keep it.

Agree with Alan. This one draws the eye in and a feeling of the rest of the viewer with it. Nice one Rick

id trash it just on principle of it being a week playing with processing. I give a photo hour max, and most I don't even process or get a ten second contrast pickup or something. A week, would be long gone. just on principle. Because even if it looks good, who cares at that point? if It was my photo I wouldn't. it took too much processing. That much playing with processing. its worthless. (at least to me).
But thinking of the style thread, maybe that is my style.
I really don't like doing processing either. im more into the camera taking the shot thing than the processing side.

Just the opposite here as everyone knows who had their photos butchered by me. PP is half the fun just like in the darkroom, but instead of wasting sheets of paper in the darkroom, there's a delete button. To me, it's a challenge to see what can be pulled out of each photo.

I have a soft spot for these types of shots. :heart: I look into the framed darkness wondering what's inside. There is mystery in the darkness that I like. This type of shot lets my imagination go wild. (maybe I've seen one too many horror movies...hehe)

I like Derrel's idea about a collage. It may be fun to put 9 or so windows together each with their own personality. =)

oh I caught on to that . i've posted a few things you mentioned I should fix. They probably were driving you nuts with you wondering why I hadn't fix it. From the darkroom perspective. I understand how you look at it. From a modern photography perspective, pp is half the job. From your perspective, keep the photo.

Keep! I think it could definitely be part of a portfolio, like I mentioned about the picture of a door that you posted in another thread. This is good as a standalone picture, imho, but it would also be great as part of a series of those abandoned houses.

I love it! Windows and doors\dooways are so interesting and when they lead into blackness - mysterious. Really like the texture visible in those wood frames.
