Winter Finally Comes to Bemidji

Been waiting for some snow and finally got the chance to go check it out:

It'll be 60 degrees here today, so I'm a long way from snow pictures myself! They're all very good, but I love the abstract look of #2. I might crop on the right where there isn't as much of that going on and at the same time get rid of the oof icicles in the foreground. That way, the sharp ones would be the foreground.

Technically its still autumn, just messing with you. I really like the second one but would have liked a little deeper DOF to make the background tree branches? A little more defined yet still OOF. The first one seems a little blown to me. The last one is cool but maybe a really wide focal length low to the ground with the first foot print directly in the foreground would have been more dramatic. But thats just a matter of taste maybe. Good job nonetheless. First time shooting snow?

i like #1 though i think i prefer more DOF on it... i see there are berries in focus but it's such a small part that i end up thinking everything is soft...

disclaimer though is that i don't know crap about macro

I don't know what it is about the last one, but it makes me feel cold and wet! It may be the color temperature, not sure. Nice job.

I like that edit of #1 Drex.

I gave a shot at color correcting #3. Started with auto tone in photoshop cs4 and used the burn tool on the footprints in the snow to bring them out more. I think it's a good leading line and the composition is pretty good overall.
The image quality didn't really survive the editing sorry

I like the snow better for sure but now the trees are black-ish...I'll go out at lunch and re-do the shot...
