Here is a shot of a Anna Hummer watching over his feeder on a 16 degree snowy day two days ago in Tacoma.

This Anna kept feeding past dark during a snowstorm, probably because of the heat lamps I had out.

Here is the story I did on it if your interested in seeing it:

The first shot is Very Nice...

The hummers here are long gone before first snow :)

Cheers, Don

I think you get the Rufous Hummers who make the annual 2,700 mile trek from Canada & Mexico every year. The last Rufous I saw was about 5 weeks ago, when he was on his way from Canada to Mexico for the winter.

The Rufous don't quite make it this far north but the Ruby Throated does :)

Their numbers were down quite a bit this year but it did appear to be a good breeding season despite the weather..

Cheers, Don

WOW; really wonderful
One thing, the surroundings in the first image is a bit distracting

Regards :)

Well, I was telling a story and IF you couldn't see any snow, (ie background & foreground completely blurred) what good is the picture? ;)

You must be in Easter Canada then as the Rufous makes it up to Western Canada, BC, Alberta every year.

I'm right smack in the middle of Saskatchewan :)

All I can say is in twenty six years I've never seen one in my "yard".. acreage half an hour west of Saskatoon.

I'll keep lookin' though.

Cheers, Don

Love the first one Great detail! What camera and lens?

Ok, it is rarer for the Anna'a where your at according to this:

Hummers in Saskatchewan

I think they're more west of you in Alberta and more in BC.

Thank you! I used the Nikon D300 with the Nikkor 70-300mm VR

Actually, this is a pretty rare shot. Has anyone ever seen a hummer digging in the snow?
