Just calibrated my monitor, now I can see those wrinkles...neat.

Hardware or software method?
Software tends to fail because it relies upon your eyes to make the judgment calls and our eyes do not view thing in a fixed fashion (or rather our brains don't interpret things in a fixed fashion). Our vision is adaptive so what might look like bright orange to you might be a duller red to another person - and that goes without considering the effect of ambient light as well.

A hardware based option (like a spyder 3) is far better because its not adaptive in the way it views things - so it will give you a much more accurately calibrated screen. Even just for web display this helps a lot (as you've already experienced) and even if only doing a very few prints having a calibrated monitor makes previewing for prints a lot easier.

No, it was software. I will save up for a hardware version sometime in the near-to-distant future (looks to be only around $200)...here is another version I came up with over the weekend:

This time in a dark room with printer paper underneath, 30-second exposure using cellphone light as only light source, moving it around the figurine through-out exposure...realized I missed a good DOF but practice makes perfect...or something...

I think you're underexposed there. Mighta shoulda flashed it.

It was an experiment with cellphone lighting...next time I will use a couple more and keep the shutter speed longer....I will invest in some off camera flash but for now, I'm just experimenting...I'll do some more here soon...
