My worst nightmare became a reality this morning. Osprey reports all over the CT coast! I hit my fishing spot and sure enough there were 2 Osprey there, as I went out through the reeds I made the most horrific discovery. A dead juvenile Snowy Owl. I'm still traumatized and pretty sad. Seem like it had succumbed to starvation. It left me quite deflated all day. I have seen plenty of dead wildlife in my travels and it has never bothered. This one hit me hard. I pretty much lost my mojo and ended up just playing around with some sparrows in pretty dim light at ISO 3200. I haven't posted all week so I figured I would share a few other ones too.. I'm not posting the Snowy here it is too disturbing. (it is on my flickr) anyways..

Sorry to hear about the Snowy Kris, I found a Heron the same way last week.

But nice shots

On another note, I saw my first Bald Eagle today. Never seen one outside of a zoo before. I couldn't get close enough for anything worth posting but it was still an amazing thing to see.

Well, shoot Kris, I'm sad now too, and I didn't even SEE the poor owl.
But I never even got to see a live (wild) one yet, so somehow the idea of that poor dead juvie one just makes me unreasonably sad.

Also, now I'm afraid to log onto flickr. I may not look at flickr again for weeks. ;-)

But the other photos are beautiful as usual. Love that Merlin!

That stinks!! I just got my first Snowy pics within the last week and I would hate to see one of those beautiful creatures deceased!

Great shots.
