I've heard that Velvia was supposed to be somewheres around 20MP equivalency.

And you lose some resolution when scanning .. so if your remaining workflow is digital (e.g. your customer wants it that way), then a digital camera is often the best option.


To come back to that film thing ... it might be possible in the distant future, but I cannot see it soon. At least not with a quality we would consider acceptable.

I think a digital Nikon FE would pretty sweet.

Yeah, but a digital insert probably cost almost the the same to manufacture as a whole camera, so probably not to big of a market. Thats basically what those old Kodak backs for 35mm cameras were, except that they where HUGE SLOW and EXPENSIVE.
