XT flash problem

I am using a canon rebel XT and when using just the on board flash nothing happens. When i press the flash button (in any of the P,Av,Tv or M modes) the flash does not pop up but i do not get the regular falsh error message. Usually the XT gets error05 on the back LCD but in this case nothing happens. I have reset the camera back to factory setting and still nothing happens. Is this a "send it to canon" problem or am i just missing something?

Does the flash pop up on it's own when in Green Box mode, in dark lighting?

Sounds like it may be the flash release mechanism....which would be a 'send it to Canon' type of thing.

On the other hand, that might be the best thing to happen to your camera. The on-board flash is best left unused anyway.

I like the whole "get a good flash" undertone of the Big Mike. lol

At no point does the flash pop up on it's own in any of the basic modes.
