I'd like to hear a little background on these images.

I shot them through the window of a passing bus. Rain on the window. I used the 18-55 mm Nikkor at the 55 mm setting (about 80 mm equiv) and had to crop like mad. Two shots were a few seconds apart as the bus rounded the corner.
