My camera light meter is always truthful and never lies to me. Maybe if he punished his light meter when it lies it would stop being naughty.

He needs to learn to use the +/- control on his camera!!!! One dials in Positive Reinforcement for good behavior, the other setting dials in Negative Reinforcement as punishment for bad behavior!!!

I mean, geeze, it's RIGHT THERE ON THE TOP DECK!!!! The Positive/Negative Reinforcement control!!!!

I got a huge laugh out of that one as his video camera kept adjusting exposure when he'd put items in front of the DSLR. He's got two lying cameras! And you know what means -- it's a camera conspiracy!

If used correctly, yes. I have both my D600 and D7000 set for using the Fn (Function) button as Spot Meter.

Hey Sparky, great you touched that subject. Yet you still didn't explained why camera's meter is doing that and why built in reflected light averaging meter is the worst way to measure the exposure . This might be a great insight for understanding how to use the spot meter for those who care to learn. Also may explain the idea behind a 1000-2000 (2016 in D7000 ?) segments 3D matrix meter used in high end dslrs. What do you think ?

"Light meter" is a misnomer. It should be thought of as an "exposure meter".

The meter doesn't lie, "0" just doesn't mean "proper exposure".
