I just received my metal print (24x36) and set it atop my fireplace mantle, just to get a good look. My wife decided she would like it hung there. While this was not the wall I printed the image for I said ok to avoid any conflict. Now the question is do I center it on the mantle or the hearth. Please, I would appreciate your opinion and the reasons for your conclusions.
Thank you :)

Given the similarity of size/shape and the preponderance of darker tones in the image, I would most definitely centre it over the fireplace and NOT over the mantle.

I would say to build out the brickwork of the fireplace about a foot or so toward the window :-)

Seriously ... I would center it over the fireplace opening.

I agree with the fireplace hearth. Centered over the mantle made me feel in conflict (uncomfortable).

This is the kind of critique that is very constructive. Hopefully I will hear some others. Thank you

Thank you for your comment. I have so much work to do on this home a fireplace remodel is on the list, just not at the top. Thanks again

I agree with the majority to center over the fireplace. You may also want to consider a tall narrow knick-knack to the left to help balance out the empty area.

Thank you for your reply. Your suggestion is exactly what i was thinking :)

Ordinarily one would center it on the wall, but seeing as how your builder did not center anything, I guess you're screwed. Ask the builder where he would hang it. (That's a JOKE, son. I know you can't teach a builder.)

Better ask your wife where she wants it, and get it IN WRITING with the date and her signature.

I would center it on the mantle, myself. It will help pull the wall as a whole together and balance the window.

That said, ugh. It's much too big for that space, what on earth is your wife thinking?

And finally, try it in one place for a week and then the other. Unless your walls are cement or steel or something, it only takes a moment to move it.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with you the print in my opinion is too big for this location.
