Casual Portrait

I just got a D-SLR about a week ago and I'm trying to learn to use this beast, what do you think about this casual shot, what could I do better here? I was snapping pics while she was blabbing away on the phone, lol.

The sun is a bit harsh and she seems aware and kind of uncomfortable with having a camera pointed at her... that happens to me, I'm always snapping pictures of my brother, i think he gets sick of always having a camera in his face!

Yea I see what you mean, but honestly I just think I just caught her in a half smile or whatever. It was a golden day so I like that it's nice and bright, especially after a few hundred underexposed pics from the d70, lol.

I'd crop the image a little differently, she's too centered in my opinion. I think the photo would look a lot better with her moved slightly to the right of the photo.

right... if you crop the right side of it, it still leaves the subject eyes looking to the other side of the pic.
