How to advertise for your shots.

What type of commercial? Do you mean on TV, in a magazine, on the web, on the side of a really really big building?

A website is a great start, and about as cheap as advertising gets if you can do it yourself. Art directors and ad agencies search the internet to find photographers for their projects. Once you have a website up with your photos, work on getting good search engine placement for your keywords. Also, if I'm out and about, and see a design studio or ad agency I drop off my card. They can check out my website at their leisure.

To sell photos to individuals for hanging in their homes I suggest you try to get your framed photos hung somewhere public: galleries, coffe shops, book stores, libraries, etc... People like to see it in person.
