I'm sure there is already a thread like this on this forum, but I did a quick search and couldn't find it. So I'm starting a new one.

So I've only been doing photography for about a month, and man... its expensive. So I obviously can't just go out and buy everything that I want. So I thought I would make a list of the lenses that I wish I had so I could get the shots I want.

I only have one camera body. A d3300. And unfortunately I didn't understand the 1.5x crop factor until I had bought a couple lenses. Right now I have three lenses. The 18-55 kit lens. A super cheap 50mm f1.8d (manual focus). And a sigma 70-200, f2.8 with os. Now that I understand crop factor and focal lengths a lot better I wish I could rethink my lenses a bit! So I'm making a dream list. Basically the lenses I hope to make enough money to have in the nearish future.

1. 18-55 kit lens + reverse mount for super-macro - 110$

2. AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED - 800$ new

3. 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED - 900$ new

4. 24-70mm f/2.8 ED - 2000$ new

5. 70-200mm 2.8 sigma (since I already bought this lens, gonna go ahead and use it for the 70-200)

4. 35mm f1.8 g prime -- 200$

5. 50mm f1.8g prime - 250$

And that is all I really want at this point. Not really into any kind of major telephoto stuff yet. I'd like an infrared camera body, but thats not a lens.

oh... sorry for the weird numbering... I changed the list up a few times and forgot to change the numbering.

That's all?

As 480sparky says the Nikon legacy lenses are where it's at. A not so well know secret for newcomers to Nikon is that if you buy the D3xxx or D5xxx series cameras you HAVE to buy the newer (expensive) AF-S lenses in order to have auto focus. If you have a D7xxx or higher camera you can use virtually every lens (auto focus or manual focus) that Nikon has produced since the 1970's, and many of those lenses can be had cheap.

I'm currently up to around a dozen different lenses in my kit, and there's at least another dozen that I really really want.

All in due time.

My current camera/lens list consist of this:

Nikon D3100 body
Nikon D7000 body
Nikon FE film body
Nikon N80 film body

Nikon 18-55 3.5-5.6 VR
Nikon 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm 1.8 G lenses
Nikon AF 80-200 f/2.8 D (push pull zoom) lens
Nikon 28 f/3.5, 50 f/2, 135 f/2.8, and 200 f/4 Ai-Ais manual focus lenses
Tamron 70-300 4-5.6 VC
Tokina AF 300mm f/4 AT-X
Tamron 11-16mm
While not a lens by itself I also own a Kenko Pro DGX 1.4x teleconverter that I use on my Tokina 300mm and occasionally on my 80-200.

An 18-300 VR and screw on macro lens would be sufficient. :biglaugh:

Zeiss Otus 85. Zeiss 21. Zeiss 135. Canon 50 1.2. Nikon 8mm fisheye. Nikon 300 2.8. Nikon 600 f4. Sigma 35 art. Sigma 120-300 2.8. The list goes on.

Zeiss Apo Sonnar T* 1700 f/4.............

Not quite understanding the question but my dream list of lenses is (in no particular order):

Sigma ART 50mm f/1.4
Sigma ART 35mm f/1/4
Sigma ART 85mm f/1.4

Nikkor 135mm f/2.0 DC
Nikkor PC-E 85mm f/2.8D (so I can finally do instagram filters in real life)
Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G Micro VR (I currently have the older non VR version)

Sony A7r II:
Zeiss Otus 85mm f1.4 (and Nikon F to Sony FE adapter)
Leica Summicron APO 50mm f2 (and Metabones Leica M to Sony FE adapter)
Sony FE 35mm f1.4
Zeiss Batis 25mm f2

Nikon D750:
Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f4 VR
Nikon AF-S 16-35mm f4 VR

That is, if I had to buy current glas and cameras. I'm sure more dream glas (and cameras) will appear in the future.
