I got one of those. Never tried using it for that. Will have to get the battery charged up and give it a go. They really do work well if stabilization is turned off and on a tripod with a remote.
The Canon SX 60 HS has a 1/2.3 sensor giving a crop factor of 3.9x. Crop factor - Wikipedia
In other words any magnification provided by the camera lens is then magnified 3.9 more times by the small image circle the lens has to provide for the small image sensor size.
For your camera the specs are 65x Optical zoom, 4x Digital zoom, and 260x Combined Zoom with Optical Image Stabilizer.
So lots of magnification - either in the camera or by post process cropping of the original image.
