Should i upgrade?

I rarely shoot in the extremes of the lens and only if its a specific look i'm going for. But i am interested how 1.4 will feel.

You will learn alot going from 1.4 up to 18/22

go to a long fenceline, at a angle, single focus on a point on it (tie a ribbon), and roll through the aperture and afterwads zoom in and see the differences on the width of focus of the fence.

that's the first thing I did when I got my 50mm/1.8

where did you get this deal ?

F/1.4 feels like a 27 year-old female in the prime of her life, pressing up against you in the moonlight...insistent on being kissed...

That is called sexual assault where i live.

The lens has just arrived and f1.4 is incredible.

These were all shot at f1.4:

I can isolate things in big way.

yes but it's very shallow DOF at 1.4 as you can tell from your first photo

Definitely, these were shot in less than ideal lighting conditions but it still looks great.

That lens has beautiful out-of-focus blur.

let's see you really put it to use and get a sharp, isolated photo of your little hammy.

Once my D600 arrives, I'm fairly certain I'm going to pick up a 50mm 1.4D.
