Cause of this lens flare and "fog"? Also, advice for shooting the moon.

Hey everyone, I am new here, just now registered to ask this question. I bought my first proper DSLR 6 months back, and have been using it mainly for video, though I have done some photography, mostly just to practice techniques and familiarize myself with the camera. I wouldn't call myself a...

    The Mystic Pier

This is the pier at Torbert MacDonald Park, Mystic River Reservation in Medford, MA. Always thought that this would make a nice subject but wasn't quite sure as to how to put it in the right light. Taking away the light altogether and shooting it at night has been the most successful approach so...

    Long Exposure

So I picked up a Lee Filters Big Stopper and went down to the power plant this morning and did some experimenting. I think I did ok for my first try. This was a 8 minute exposure at f9 with my sigma 10-20mm on a canon 80d. Any friendly advice is welcome. M ike

    Shooting the Stars

I've been practicing shooting the stars, but they don't turn out as good as I wish they would. Any tips on how to do better long exposures? I shoot on a crop sensor if that has any impact on my results. I would eventually like to do time lapses of the galaxy.

    Fire Light

A passing fire truck made an interesting subject. Or at least it's ghost did. This one's not so much about the shot but rather the effect.

Hi guys! I'm a 17 year old from a city nearby Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain! So, sorry for my 'bad' English. And this is my first post! I had a Nikon D3300 for my BDay (Actually my Bday was the 15th and I got the camera on the 7th, and I like taking long exposure photos but when I try to take...

How to get a blurry romantic landscape background?

Hello, I saw this pic (attachment) and was amazed by the feel it gave. How can one achieve such a blurry landscape other than the subject. Would it have been done by two layers of one short and the other long exposure? Any way of capturing this in a single shot and process in photoshop to get a...

Something Different | A Moody Landscape

"Subdued" I went out to Diana's Pool in Chaplin for what seemed like the 20th time, with the intent of trying out my new tripod. I decided to go at it a bit differently, and with the trees still being pretty dead looking, I knew I wanted the final photo to be dark and moody. RSP_1529 by...
