1st Swim Suit Model

Working with a time limitation (she had to go home to Mom) so I couldn't wait for the sun to go down and had to rush the shot in harsh light. Not my best, but hopefully I can redo with what I've learned. Know most of what I did wrong but any comments and suggestions for next time would be appreciated.View attachment 124190

My intent was to shoot in full shade of late afternoon with one light setup. Unfortunately something came up and I had to move up the shoot. As a result I was in full sun shooting into partial shade, with a highly reflective tub, white hat and a model that was constantly moving. Seemed like every one that I got the exposure right, she was turned the wrong way. I was saving to raw, but the white on the top of the hat was to blown to recover.

The only part that's really annoying me is the top of the hat. There just isn't anything to work with in the blown out part. So far tried everything I could think of. Best thing so far has been to cut a selection out of the hat and use as a mask layer, but because of the curvature of the hat, it still looks PS'd. Good part is it will give me an excuse to re shoot (as if I needed one). In the meantime for practice I might shoot the hat in better light, and cut out the section I need.

Why is it processed so harshly? Looks like the clarity slider went to 100%

I was trying to bring back the white details, and the highlights on the tub. Suspect the harshness you're referring to is a little to much adjustment in curves.
