2 New Photos for C&C

I just used photoshop for the first time today and played around with two pictures I took of my daughter with my p&s camera to try and make them better. I like both pictures better in color but the harshness of the flash and the awful bathroom light hurts my eyes so I made them black and white. I'm still playing around with them. Any suggestions on what I can do. Be gentle, I know the sharpness isn't that great.

The selective colouring in the second image makes the toys the main subject of the image and not the child.

I realized that after I posted the photo. I thought it would add some interest to the photo other than the fact that it is just a kid in a bathtub.
