Hey everyone :)

I have a D50 and both the 18-55mm and 50mm 1.8 lenses ...I have to make the best out of it to do a 22 person family portrait. I'm going to be doing it outdoors in a large open area.

It also has to be done mid-day. I live in Miami Beach and it's supposed to be a partly cloudy day (I'm hoping for that). I will be doing the shoot outdoors in an open area with direct sunlight with the bay as the background.

Using my 50mm lens, what would you recommend I keep the settings on the camera at? And any suggestions that could help me out?

Thank you!!

I would recommend a small ladder to stand on so that you are up higher then the rest of the group and it helps to get everyone in the shot.

ditto about the ladder.

However, we can't really give you settings....

Personally I'd use the 18-55 cause with the 50 you're gonna have to move back quite a bit.

Wide angle taht sucker, and see what you can do (not too much though, cause it'll distort everyone.)

If you ahve lots of room, do it....but I dono.

Meter off of a graycard and then AE lock it...or set it to manual.

(I'm assuming you know how to meter and know what a gray card is)

also youd have less of a sun glare from a little higher that the people.
