50mm nikon f1.8 D

I would like to buy a 50mm 1.8 for my nikon D200 and found a 2 years old "f1.8-D" model, is it the latest that nikon made? is it also a good lens?
I would like to buy it used but if there is a newer version better for my digital camera, i will go with it...
