My firned was married in these gardens 7 years ago and really wanted to go back to this place to take some maternity pictures.

I decided to bring along a stand to get my flash off camera. It was the first time I have tried off camera flash, and I think that I love it! I will do some things differently next time (Like turn down the power on my speedlight), but I thought I'd share this photo for C&C.

I did some "photoshopping" on her arm to thin it down a bit. So any C&C on that would be appreciated as well. Normally I wouldn't do that, but she was soooo self-consious about it that I told her I would try in order to get her to loosen up a bit. Here is my trial)

So here is the picture. What do you think?

I think it's not a bad shot at all; you've captured a great expression. I do think that there is some room for improvement. The thing that bothers my most are the bright/blown leaves behind her head and the dark area in front. It gives the image an awkward appearance. As you've mentioned, your flash was a bit strong as well, and I think perhaps you could have been a little bit lower. Still, all in all, a good start to your career in OCF.

Is that a tree camera left? Not bad. I would start by dragging the shutter a little longer and lowering the flash power some. Most of the back ground is dark minus the blown leaves.
