I say go with the D4 because you can seriously focus it wherever you want, blindfolded, and it'll be dead-nuts on. Even though the D800 might share the same module, it doesn't feel as fast, and in my experience, it's not as reliable.

on a D4, in AF-C, with 9pt dynamic turned on, it's infallible. I shot part of a job where the best I could come up with was 1/40th, f/2.8, at ISO 25,600, and not only was the focus spot-on, but I was able to deliver the pictures too. A D800 can't do that.
