What lenses would you buy with $9k between 24mm-300mm?

This would be for a D800 or D700 also, can't decide on which one

You can get the "trinity" for about $6,400 new (14-24, 24-70, 70-200). The good 2.8 300mm lenses run about $5,000 a pop.

The 14-24 doesn't interest me, lack of filters is a big deal breaker and I don't need anything that wide. I'm pretty set on the 24-70 and 70-200 vrII, just need a find a cheap used or refurbished 300 2.8

You know that you can get a Lee filter holder for that lens and compatible filters as well.

That'd be nice but rather have 35mm for speed.

Here are my two options:

Refurbed D4 for 5k plus 70-200vrii f2.8, 16-35 f4, 50 f1.8d

D800E 70-200vrii, 24-70, grip, extra battery, used afs 300 f2.8 plus a TC maybe

hey that basically my setup. d800 though not E, and add 50mm 1.8d, and 1.4 and 2x teleconverter. love my 300mm 2.8 afs-ii, its quite addicting.
