Sorry, but "a brace" is a PAIR, as in two...as in, "Runnah stands beside his trusty fowling dog with a brace of mallards shot with the lovely 1921 Purdy double-barreled 12-gauge left to him by his late great-granfather, Tennyson L. Runnah,Esq."

Yes, indeed...now, flush those sitting ducks (wouldn't want to sluice them on the ground now!) and use that engraved Purdy shotgun and make great-grandpappy T.L. Runnah proud, and bag a couple of drakes! Only THEN will we be able to use the photo caption I wrote in the post above!
