A Couple From My First Newborn Shoot. C&C Welcome

I was very nervous about this shoot - I had no idea how it was going to turn out. I ready many, many articles and watch a ton of videos to prep myself. I also practiced with a little flesh-colored stuffed bear the night before. The bear shots produced some of the more surreal shots I've ever taken - very creepy.

Very nice Tim. That first one is superb, and the second ones face is priceless. The second one would look really cute in b/w, and maybe in the horizontal position. Great job for your first go round. Whatever you practiced with the night before, it worked. It also shows you are serious about your work.

Thanks Kathy. I will definitely try a B&W edit of #2. It was originally horizontal but it seemed like all of them were horizontal so I turned it on its side. I have another newborn shoot on Monday so I will take what I learned today and hopefully do an even better job. Thanks for the kind words!

I'd like to try newborn shots. Unfortunately I need to wait nine months for the newborn to arrive ... babies take longer to ship than Chinese adapters.

No wonder the USPS doesn't deliver by stork.

I'm also curious about the setup. I'm shooting some NB for two friends who are due SOON and I really have yet to devise any game plan. lol

These are wonderful. It really shows that you've put some preparation into the shoot. The lighting is so pleasing in both of them.

I prefer the second shot in B/W but feel like it could use a boost in contrast.

When I used to shoot newborns, I would convert all of the images (via batch) to B/W for the parents. Sometimes it surprised me which I preferred in the end, not all have the same appeal in color.
