These are ok 'family' photos but not specifically good otherwise, imo.

In the first, much of their faces is hidden and the large amount of non-contributory space causes much of the 'cozy' feeling to leach away.
The composition in the second hurts; all of the important stuff is in the lower part of the center, her face is in the shadwo and teh toning has nothing to add to the content.
