A couple new ones for C&C please...

Here's a couple new one's from this week. My goal next year is to involve more people in my photos so I figured I'd get a head start!

I realize there is a little distortion in the on the left side of the window opening. I don't know how edit that out with Aperture... Does anyone know of a good plug-in?

I really love the first one, great contrast..the shadows are on point IMO. Clear picture and makes me wonder what they're looking at.
The second one has a good concept to it. I would have stepped back a foot or two to get a more full effect. Aiming to get that little bit of light to come through the window is difficult.

I'm in no position to critique your photos, but I do like #1. Something about candid pictures I will always love! :thumbup: :thumbup:

#1 is a good candid capture ... multiple human elements works with the B&W.
The object in the lower right (bench ?) is a little distracting.

i really like #1. really like it.

there is so much going on, but it still all brings my eye back to the couple.

#2, i'm distracted by the stuff outside the window. but i like the photo overall. i feel sad for the woman. the texture of the wall and window sill/frame gives me the impression she's trapped in a tower looking out.. like rapunzal.

I like the first one the best. #2 seems a little dark on the inside and a little bright on the outside of the window. Nice work overall.

imo that adds to the allure of the photo.

she's in a dark room. looking to the brightness outside. wishing she were in the bright outdoors instead of being trapped in that dark room.

these photos are telling stories.

i like to think that the people in the top image are staring out into a town square where a criminal is about to be hanged for his crimes. the old man has some years on him, he's seen this a hundred times, so he's waiting to see it again. the younger couple though, they have only seen a hanging on tv. the husband is getting ready to console the woman. and she is about to bury her face in his chest at just the last moment so she doesnt see. but, she'll look back after she hears the snap of the neck, it's human nature, she wont be able to not turn back. but then she'll quickly put her face in his chest again.

Hey thanks!

The object in the lower right of #1 is a railing for stairs. I tried to clone it out but just couldn't get it to look right, so I burned it bunch to get it to blend away.
In #2 I tried various distances but the wider I got it the background was too bright and distracting. The only light I wanted in the photo was to come in through the window and light her face. I was debating whether or not to just white out the outside or to bring out the detail from what was existing. I figured what was outside was interesting, gave her something to look at and raised more questions than gave answers, so I decided to leave it.

Naptime... That's one heck of a story man! I was on the fence about #1. People are tough for me to shoot because (knowing the actual context from which the image was captured) the mystery of the shot kinda disappears and the photo becomes kinda, meh? This is where the technical side of my brain dumps on the creative side...

what if everything outside window were blurred?

as it is, because it's bright, it draw your attention to it. and its in focu, so then you try to figure out what it is before then looking over to the womans face.

i love the whole idea of the shot. and i love that shes in the dark room and the only light is from outside... i just dont like that the outside is focused..

I think it was some sort of disneyland ride or what looks like Gondolas, still not interesting enough to be in focus.

I've not once opened my camera's manual... I use UV filters for PROTECTION!!!...

I dunno... Just trying to get more attention....
