As I have a quite a few view I take it that they are really bad photos or is it that yours are unsure about the sport been that it is only ever done in Australia

They're not 'really bad' photos, no. As far as the sport, I assume this is what in North America is known as 'cutting', that is separating one animal from a herd for branding, medicating or slaughter?

The main area where these images are lacking, IMO, is in the backgrounds. You've used a small enough aperture that there's sufficient DoF to render most of the scene in focus, and as invariably happens, there's a lot of stuff going on in the background. Try and use much larger apertures and longer focal lengths; this will allow you to isolate the subject from the background more effectively.

No it not the same as what they do in the North of America, it starts off a bit like cutting. It a very fast sport and the action can happen anywhere in the ring I post a video of it so yours can see. An I will try you suggestion next weekend if I get a chance to get the camera out with a the 2 little kids and riding as well. Thank you very much for taking the time to give some cc.

This is a Draft that in Queensland just on the property of a friend of mine you can't really see the camp that well
