I am a newb to photography and have never posted any pictures for C&C. I am going to throw a few down for the masses. I submitted a few of these captures at my first meeting with the camera club here in town. I did get a first place and a second place on two of the images posted. I will not say which ones, but I will say the competition was very limited. Still, I would like to hear what needs to be said. I appreciate any feedback I can get.

Your pictures aren't showing!

Yeah, guess I was smart enough to do this...working on it. Sorry

There is a thread in the beginners forum that shows you how to do it. I'd help you but, honestly, I only know how to post pictures with flickr and photobucket

I love 1, 2 and 3. What kind of Camera & lens where you using?

Nikon D3100 and kit lenses for all.

Sigma 5.6 70-300 for 1&2

Nikkor 5.6 18-55 for 3&4

No C&C from me but...

AWWWWWWW to that second pic. :D

I can't offer much in the way of a critique, but I really like #3. I think you've done a good job of showing scale and height here.

Oh, and btw, I noticed the avatar. Go Cards!

I like to hear that about #3...my main focus in taking that picture was to use the lines of the trees and the vertical lines on Devils tower to give a great feeling of height. I usually keep people out, but having my wife in the picture gave it great sense of scale. I was also very happy with my ability to to properly expose the picture and not wash out the sky. I am forcing myself to use only manual mode to teach myself my camera, so little victories make me happy.

As for the Cards...what a Cinderella story....I am a Brewers fan, but first and foremost I am a fan of the game. What the Cards did this year was amazing to watch.

I want to throw a few more out there for C&C, will add numbers in addition to the originals.

I like 3 and 6. 2 my gain a little with rule of thirds cropping.

Great stuff, I love the first one. The four one looks like it should be part of a calendar.

In my opinion: The first one, the white balance is off. Also, I think it would look better as a portrait crop... For example somethimg like...

Thank you for the opinion...I appreciate it. It is interesting to see how other people look at a picture. In my eye, I thought the tree, and the grass in the foreground helped wrap the deer in its environment. As for the white balance, the deer seems a little on the blue side right now, but I was there, and in my eye the PP helped lock in what I saw at the time of the capture. But, it is not always about remembering what I saw at the time, its about making the viewer see a well composed, great shot.
