As for the fisherman, it just seems like a snapshot to me. Sorry.

As for the others, yo are right in that there seems to be a bit of the cage showing. I would bet however, that if you were to take another 30 seconds per you could have found an angle where the cage didn't show in the frame. In this case, its your job to make sure your surroundings cater to you rather than tother way round.

I know the cage sucks....but saturday at the San Diego Zoo is a mad house....had to fight to get what I did.....lol

I'm going to disagree with Stradawhovious, I like the fisherman shot but I'm not a big fan of the others.

I think the fisherman photo is a cool moment captured...a man at piece out fishing. I do think it could benefit greatly from some post production work though. Try experimenting with come colors, curves etc to give it an interesting artistic look. To me, this is somewhat of an artistic photo, and would look nice with some artistic coloring to it.

Im liking the BW fisherman........

Yeah I'm liking the BW fisherman too. The other thing that throws me off with it is that it looks like you cropped it almost square. I would personally like to see it either more vertical, but that's personal preference.

The B&W fisherman photo is much better than the colored one. It seems to have more character and depth to me.

I think I'm able to save the fisherman, but I'm not allowed to edit your shots.

A good bw conversion, and crop to portrait orientation, only including the boat, the man and the sign. Make the crop as tall as possible (without including the ship). It will give it a clean look, at least. :)

edit: ahh, man... It's late here, and I have to go to sleep. I'll be the criminal and post an edit to your fisherman. In my experience, many new members here aren't aware of that edit thing. If you truly hate me for this and want to report me, I'm sorry. I just think you have a good photo there, once cropped. That ship and the shore in the background takes away from the subject, I think. Here's a quick crop and bw conversion of the coloured version. I focused on getting some detail on the pole there, and get some contrasts in. Ohh, I straightened the pole a bit as well. Perhaps it was better before?
